Orlando Metro

Orlando metro, also known as Orlando Metropolitan area or the Greater Orlando is the largest city in Florida, which is a plus in itself. It has a population of 2, 134, 411 making it the third largest metro area in the whole of Florida and the 26th largest in the United States. The total area measures at 4,012 miles sq and has a number of surburbs including Azalea Park, Bonaventura lakes, Golden rod, Hunter's creek, etc.

Orlando Metro area is nicknamed by residents as The City Beautiful and for good reason. Rated in 2009 as the most visited city in America, it is a haven for tourists. It is also known as the Theme park capital of the world, which explains the earlier ratings and results in the airports being the 13th busiest in the US and the 29th busiest in the world. The many attractions in the city serve to promote its fame.

The most popular thing Orlando Metro area is known for its tourism which attracts thousands of visitors to the city every year. There are numerous malls, hotels and restaurants in the city as a result of this. Greater Orlando used to be known in the day for its itrus production, being the major commercial citrus producer in the region. There are still a number of orange juice plants in the metro area at the present however. These include Cutrale Citrus Juices, Florida's Natural Growers and Silver Springs Citrus. However, over time it has become known as the MS&T or Modeling, Simulation and Training location in Florida.

There are many attractions in Orlando metro area and principal among them is the Walt Disney World. Also, there is the Universal Orlando and the Seaworld Orlando. Other amusement parks in Orlando include Gatorland, Holy Land Experience, Kennedy Space Center, Legoland Florida etc. The parks cut across different themes, such as the Gatorland which houses thousands of crocodiles and alligators, the Holy Land Experience theme park which has a biblical theme with an attached museum etc.

Downtown Orlando has some of the tallest buildings in Florida.

Many museums and galleries dot the Greater Orlando area, such as the Mennello Museum of art, Orlando Museum of Art, Orlando Science center, Fort Christmans and the Ripley's Believe it or Not! Other important tourist attractions include a B-52 Memorial Park, an Improv theater and a historic train depot called Church Street station. The city is also home to numerous media houses, including TV stations, radio, and a major newspaper known as the Orlando Sentinel, though there are other newspapers found in the region along with the major national and international dailies.

Greater Orlando also houses a Biosciences cluster which was formed as part of a means to harness the tourism potential of the city. The Biosciences cluster is made up of different universities such as the University of Central Florida Biosciences division.

There are so many things one can do at Orlando city. People who love hiking can take a walk to the Sugarloaf Mountain or even stroll by the beach.
