Found in the Pinellas county in Florida, St Petersburg is the 4th most populous city in Florida and one of the largest. It has over 2.8 million residents and each one is a living and breathing testimony of the greatness of a city which is one of American and foreign tourist vacations. Fondly called St Pete by residents, this city satisfies all her residents with sunshine almost daily, leading to the Guinness world record of longest consecutive days of sunshine. The city is called the Sunshine city, and when the youths and the explosive art of the city are combined, it is not hard to see the resemblance.

The Sunshine city enjoys 361 days of sunshine every year making it a city without gloom. The attractions that trail the city of St Petersburg make it a must visit for tourists. There is a point of interest for everyone, from children to adults. The interests range from academic to plain sunny fun. The Great Explorations Children's Museum of Fine arts has one of the finest collections of fine arts designed to interest your children in history and art. The museum is interactive featuring pretend stores, fire houses, pet vet clinics, water and music exhibits and so many other fun stuffs. Other museums include the St Petersburg Museum of History, a Holocaust museum and the Salvador Dali Museum. There are also numerous art galleries for art enthusiasts such as the Mahaffey Theater, The Coliseum, the Midtown Royal Theater, the Florida Craftsmen Gallery and so many others. It is no surprise that ST Petersburg is placed regularly in the top 25 art destinations in America. Entertainment venues include the farmer's market at the former Progress Energy park, Boyd Hill Nature Park on Lake Maggiore which is a destination for many nature lovers, housing within its 1kmsq location a preserve for endangered plant species, rare wildlife from the Tampa bay, bald eagles, hawks and other exotic species. Sunken Gardens is another entertainment venue.

Sport in St Petersburg includes baseball, football, soccer, rugby, auto racing and hockey, with the main teams being the Tampa Bay Rays and the Tampa Bay Rowdies who play baseball and soccer in the Major League Baseball and the North America Soccer League respectively. The Sunshine city is also host to the Minor League baseball headquarters. The city is also the location for the Firestone Grand Prix and the Acura Sports Car Challenge of St Petersburg for the IndyCar and American Le Mans Series respectively.

St Petersburg is also home to several institutions such as the Northeast High School and the St Petersburg High School, Admiral Farragut Academy, Northside Christian School etc. Higher institutions include University of South Florida, Eckerd College, St Petersburg etc.

St Petersburg, the Sunshine city, is home to lots of beaches. Of the many beaches, Fort De Soto is rated one of the most popular, and in fact was rated the number one beach in America by the annual Dr Beach rankings in 2005. TripAdvisor also rated it number one beach in 2008. St Petersburg has featured in a number of movies over the years with some of the most popular being Ocean's Eleven (2001) and Once upon a time in America (1984).
